I'm happy to see your studying finance and I'm sure you're doing quite well. Like your comments however you base them on your perception that I lack financial knowledge. On top of my engineering degree I have a finance degree and by the way I'm quite good at it. Finished top 1% of my class. On top of all of that I work in industry right now. I'm not going to explain the differences between OCC and IRR and why you choose one over the other, you tend to use both.
Little hint before assuming the world is your oyster and your knowledge is paramount to success, Number one: NPV is used everyday to make decisions on the viability of the project. Number 2: Assumptions are made along the way and sensitivity to these assumptions is how you determine if possible projects will be viable. The probability of a success is measured already in P10,P50 and P90 analysis cases. NPV analysis is run on pessimism and optimism, its howe you go forward with developments.
I only wrote in this morning because people that read the stuff written on this website sometimes dont know better. Some people makes themselves to be messiahs on this website and experienced investment bankers, when we all know they are nowhere near it.
Like I said before my knowledge is experienced based and not based solely on Brealy Mears's book on corporate finance.
Finally you cant say that the gas cannot be extracted economically. That is a statement purely in the down ramping fashion. You dont have the experience (nowhere near it) to make this decision.
P.S. Maybe MEO isn't the right share for you but I'm confident that the long term future of this company is in a good position. For this reason I hold.
