Five-year-old Queensland boy allegedly raped by other children in attack on Cape York beach

A five-year-old boy was allegedly gang-raped by a group of children on a remote beach in Far North Queensland earlier this month.
Queensland police allege the incident occurred just after 7pm on July 1 at a beach at Napranum.
Napranum is a remote Indigenous community on the north-west coast of Cape York, around 10 hours north of Cairns.
"Three boys, aged between 10 and 13, will be dealt with under the provisions of the Youth Justice Act after the alleged rape of a five-year-old boy earlier this month," a Queensland Police spokesperson said.
Queensland Police Commissioner Katarina Carroll said the incident was a "tragedy".
"As you would see it appears to be a group of teenagers," she said.
"It shouldn't happen. And it's tragic … it has been investigated, and as I said (we are) working with the victim, the families and obviously the offending children as well.
