The extended deals have nothing to do with the generic manufacturers that is a seperate issue. The problem is Sigma offering extended credit on its usual 30 day trading terms. There are quite a few pharmacies that I know have extended credit terms from 90 days through to 12 months. This extended credit is not supported by the generic manufacturers but by Sigma. An average non discount pharmacy would have a monthly spend of about 100k. The discounters would have a monthly average spend of at least 200k. Another puzzling feature is that a few of the Sigma branded pharmacies eg: Guardian , Amcal do not even use Sigma as their primary wholesaler , go figure that one out.
