Another possibility for the "significance of the directors buying" is a decision and subsequent concerted effort by the Board to bolster the share price (or at least arrest it's fall) in order to attempt to prevent/deter a hostile Take Over bid at these bargain price levels..

One or two directors buying is opportune behaviour; ALL of them buying is clearly Board policy
