Clearly an announcement for the industry types...and one would assume, those more informed.
MMB are talking about indications of Hornfelsing here...
So I wonder why they didn't simply mention it?
Hornfelsing is a term given to the rock immediately surrounding deep sourced intrusions such as Peridotite. Typically a fine grained metamorphic rock of sedimentary origin, hornfels are the result of mineralogical changes to surrounding rock caused by the e extreme heat of the intrusive material.
Typically, Hornfels take on some of the mineralisation of the main intrusive, though usually much lower grade and tenor, and can provide a good indication of the composition of the main source material.
The Dykes should be viewed as being representative of the likely grade of the richer source material, while the hornfelsing should be expected to be lower grade.
The mineralogical composition of the hornfels is a product of the original sedimentary "host", the composition of the intrusive itself and of course magnitude of heat and pressure it has undergone.
The mention of this by MMB, along with further mention of potential dyke swarms is to me indicative of a significant porphyry intrusion at depth.
I think…lol???
Cheers!
