Yes price manipulation used to be discussed in such a way that it was overkill.

The EXT thread was once a thread that was full of religious underlying tones which always talked about the believers standing firm etc whereby every bad price movement was called manipulation which was a huge turn off and it got to the point after years of hearing the same old hoo ha that when the price finally moved I didn't catch the beginning primarily due to all of the noise. Not to worry though as thems the breaks.

Price manipulation is what the stock market has always been made up of. Isn't it true that everyone is trying to get the best buy price and best sell price??

How do you think that is achieved. Would it be due to the fact that either I or you can place an order below the current share price to make it appear as if there are buyers only to pull it later on and to buy or sell it at market price if the desired price is achieved??

Let's face it, everyone does it at some stage so even though people try to make themselves feel better by calling it price manipulation to justify a hold position it is in fact just the stock market doing what it's always done year in year out.
