Total US household debt, including mortgage debt & student debt, are higher than in 2008. It's unsustainable and won't be sustained. And before the squad gets here, Trump didn't cause this , banks and other lenders and overblown consumer expectations are the cause. And equilibrium will be restored just like it is when you go and have a tooth pulled at the dentist, but it's more painful.
