    Flinders,

Silver is fairly uncreative and as such should not considerably tarnish in the time it takes to post the bars. If the bar is stamped it should be ok. I would suggest getting your bars direct from the manufacturer as there are some shady lead lined bars out there.

I have a few bars wrapped up in good old cling film at home (Perth 1 kg, 20 oz and 10 oz). They are still as good looking as the day i got them. However if your just looking for bars do not worry to much about the appearance as all you want is the silver content.

The biggest thing is water. If you wrap your bars in moist anything it will tarnish at a quicker rate. As long as you store them dry they should be fine.

I would also suggest looking at 1 kg lunar coins from the perth mint. See what the mark up is between them and bars and decided if thats for you. They come in air tight capsules and are very easy to store.

Pm me if you have any more questions.

    A very bored chemistry man.
