re: silver - some thoughts I havent really followed silver since the days of the Hunt Brothers.
The biggest use of silver outside jewelry was in silver nitrate for photography.
At the time, there was a rumour that the Japanese were on the fringe of a discovery that would allow developing photos without the use of silver nitrate.
This info came in the form of a warning re an anticipated price drop.
The price did drop, but not for that reason.
With the inroad of digital cameras, the use of silver in photography should be plummeting.
Yet it is not.
What has replaced photography as a large user of silver?
I am curious.
Cheers
