I think that is a good question!
I know a lot of the drilling in these phases has been to increase confidence and reassure possible financiers about what is in the ground within the planned mine area and this has been seen as more important than increasing the overall MRE. I think the market and financiers will also get a big confidence boost if we can get the mine life out to 10 - 12 + years.
I also wonder if an increase of the pit area will prompt the requirement of another environmental study. The rabid greenies will be circling and waiting to throw every delay and protest they can to stop the project if another EPA approval needs to be sort. It also costs a lot of money and time as well.
