Just for the future, Haiti lies to the West of the DR, and their North/South border is close to the recent DR 'strikes' , such as Goldquest's. I'll be heading to Haiti in April to help build quake-resistant 'rubble homes' with a NPO called Conscience International. I wouldn't be surprised to see strikes pop up along trend in NE Haiti one day, but wouldn't invest there whatever they promise... The difference in Govts/culture between the DR & Haiti is night & day. If it happens and you Oz guys are tempted, read a bit of recent Haiti history with your DD before you pounce.
