Some years back there was a guy called Trader Bob who had a junk yard in Goulburn. He bought stuff at auction all over the place, often for peanuts and the farmers etc would come in looking for stuff. He did so well, he asked a mate of mine who is a gemmologist/jewel specialist like moi, what he could do with the pile of cash he had. He was advised to buy silver ingots. He did, and all the doors in his yard were propped open with dirty big cubic tarnished silver ingots. No one knew what they were. Just some sort of tarnished metal or something. Unbelieving, I went to have a look, to check my mate's story.
It was true. Of course told nobody till old Bob was long gone.
Moral of the story. If you lock it away, it will attract attention. If you use it as a doorstop everyone will think its junk.
Wont work with gold though, as it will not tarnish.
