You are presenting a false dichotomy. Actually both are important especially if you are considering the proposed mechanism of action and the effect on quality of life.

However it is pointless speculation. To me it looks like an anomalous result and it has little weight given that the study once again failed to achieve it's primary endpoint. It it seems likely that many experts are similarly cautious in accepting the results and I have doubts that in a properly RCT with stroke, MI and cardiac death as primary endpoints the result could be repeated.

But lets see if SI can come up with the cash to do another multi year study and provide an answer.
