Sadly, the Chinese have huge influence in countries such as the Congo. Deal is always the same: we give you weapons to oppress any opposition and you give us your raw materials at dirt cheap prices. The chinese pay locals a pittance and work them into the ground.
Angola (oil and diamonds), Zimbabwe (chrome, platinum, asbestos, etc), Congo (copper, cobalt, tungsten etc), Sudan (oil), and at least another dozen states throughout west Africa.
