For me? Neither.
I turn off most add-on and drop-in features on my phone, disable as much as possible on the two computers and have a tightly configured firewall and security. All TCP ports are closed when not in use, UDP traffic is monitored and often blocked etc etc...
...but then I also don't answer door-knockers, reject mail-drops, have a privately listed and silent phone number, and have all phone services on "do not contact lists".
