They can still overule the vote but I can't imagine they would be that stupid.
Beazley was an incredibly stupid choice but then again Latham was an unbelievably stupid choice.
Having established they had no chance of winning they should have gone way out and backed one of the women. Still wouldn't win but they would at least they'd have shaken things up.
Australia needs a strong and viable alternative to any incumbent government, doesn't matter which party is in power.
At this time the Labor party is not that alternative but you can't tell them, they need to fight amongst themselves to work it out.
Once the dead bodies are cleared away they may start on the road to recovery.
