Good to see Simon in this venture, a good foot in the door.  This quote from the article link below had me intrigued based on what we know about lithium batteries and heat versus Flow batteries.

There was mention that air-conditioned cooling was required and faulty units.

In January and February, the heat reduced its availability from the contracted 96 per cent to just 91 per cent, although the blame is put on faulty air conditioning units, which are now being addressed and additional units are being purchased. With lithium batteries needing to be kept at 25 deg C there will be a need for cooling.


BUT with 22 GwH of battery storage, how much product do you need?.

If using ZBM batteries:
22,000,000,000 / 10000 = 2.2 million ZBM2 batteries
or 36,666 20ft shipping containers full of ZBM2s.

If using Tesla Lithium batteries:
22,000,000,000 / 85000 * 7104 = a mind boggling 1.8 billion! 1,838,682,352  18650 lithium ion cells


On storage, I can see why there would be huge interest in this.  Australia could really have a good crack at starting a wave of this around the world where needed as we decarbonise.

Very interesting times ahead of us.  Good and bad, I refer to the Australian fires and our mainstream acceptance of a climate emergency.
