I think the problem with DJ is struggling with position itself in the market. Many years ago it used to be the high end department store that I'd like to shop because it's got many exclusive brands both in fashion and make up. Since the big westfield opened and myer introduced more brands, im less willing to go to DJ because there is nothing special there anymore.
Accept or not, retailing is challenging due to tough economic condition not to mention price of imported goods are ridiculous if you consider the strong currency. However I believe higher end customer spending will not be affected as much. The company should think of its image and target market before concentrating on the development of online store...look like those successful US on-line stores such as SAKs and Sephora, price is not a big issue but their strong brand name
