Singapore confirmed 145 new cases of Type A/H1N1 flu on Sunday, bringing the total confirmed cases up to 599, the Ministry of Health said.
The 30% increase is the largest single day increase in Singapore, and further suspected cases are still under investigation.
The new swine flu cases comprise 94 local cases and 23 imported cases in the Southeast Asian city state, a hub for international travel.
Sixty percent of Singapore's total developed symptoms shortly after arriving in the country, yet Sunday, almost two-thirds of those who were confirmed with the deadly virus were infected locally, ministry data shows.
No deaths have yet been recorded in Singapore, a city state of over 4 million.
Over 63,700 cases of the Type A/H1N1 flu have been confirmed worldwide, including 288 deaths, the World Health Organization said on its Web site Monday. WHO declared the swine flu a pandemic on June 11.
