Probably the best to open a new thread for possible trading on the Singapore xchange for those in need of information and what steps to take from here.
It may or may not happen, but never the less its good to be prepared in case.
I personally have International Platform with Commsec and its most likely same with other platforms.
Commsec gives you only option for the US market to do trades online on a computer. Any other markets, Sing included you have to call the desk for them to place the order for you.
Another thing that i just spoke with them, is the transfer of shares to the SGX market. Yes we will be able to trade them but there is a condition how it is setup from the get go...
Commsec cannot transfer the shares if they are held or listed by the Sing marker registry directly !
The guys was pretty straight forward, that it will depend how its structured during the merger and so on, could be a special facility as some mentioned, and in that case could be easier to transfer.
How ever, if the shares are held by SGX registry it will need to go trough a Singapore registered broker or someone who have access.
Still early day, but better be prepared than in the dark when the day comes.
I personally intend to hold for long term as initially planned. Situation today sukx a bit but no point selling at loss right now when there is so much potential in the near future.
Please keep the thread alive with relevant information only regarding Sing Xchange.
Thank you
