The idea behind the data centre is "Offsite Storage" .... why would you want to have to remember to do a backup every day, take the bloody thing home with you and then remember to take it back to work. I am sorry but anyone who bothers with tape backup, portable HDD etc is flirting with human error and falability. For $29.95 a month you can get 500MB of storage (equates to about 1GB of data). Cheap and safe. You don't need to back up installed software just user data.
Yes it has been a long wait with SYG but I do think that it will finally turn the corner in the next 6 - 12 months.
