Worth restating the benefits of our new BBBEE partner:
1. Approx. $17m immediate cash injection, with another ~$9m to follow
2. With asset backing of almost $1B, annual dividend receipts of ~$60m, and a track record of providing seed capital & management guidance to many successful small businesses - SIOC-cdt have the financial backing, stated intention & skills to support CCC's growth profile. Financial strength of SIOC-cdt will smooth the way to further debt funding.
3. Massive credibility boost, given SIOC-cdt are the role-model BBBEE community trust in SA - and one the ANC will be proud to use as an example.
4. Excellent political, business and social/community-level connections in SA. These connections will no doubt speed up the process of acquiring new prospecting, mining, social & environmental permits.
5. Validation of CCC's business model & quality of the SA assets ie. why did SIOC-cdt choose to partner with CCC, when they could have taken their pick of hundreds of other companies in SA?
6. The BBBEE credentials of SIOC-cdt will make it much easier for CCC to access rail & port allocations to export coal through Richards Bay.
7. Will raise the profile of CCC in South Africa, UK, Europe & elsewhere. Worth remembering that Connie Molusi, chairman of SIOC-cdt was CEO of Johnnic Communications (now called Avusa) - one of the largest media organisations in Africa - so he has elite access to press/media outlets & channels.
