I agree with Towie. He was his own man, an old sytle politician that many people wish we had more of today. Maybe he never got every decision right, and maybe things did start to go wrong at the end, but the bottom line is that he did well for Queensland, and Queensland prospered under him. He was the only state premier at that time to leave his state with increased reserves, most, like Victoria were reduced to being near bankrupt. I feel that those Australians who approach life by "having a go" would see his contribution as positive, those who see themselves as victims would be negative towards him.
