I held both Oxiana (OXR) and Pan Australian (PNA) prior to and during the GFC. Both companies cut their teeth in greenfield copper/gold mining in Lao in mid-to-late 2000.
There are some parallels between AVB and OXR/PNA. Like AVB, both emerging copper producers went through long periods of SP stagnation and wild SP swings while developing their small rich mines to fund their bigger mines. Gold credits formed a significant part of their incomes. Funding was always priced at a premium. I recall PNA paying 15% on new debt in the middle of the GFC. We can learn a lot about AVB' by looking at the developmental history of both OXR and PNA.
