Ok - thanks for your references

“A couple of readers have been in touch regarding Covid-19 death rates in Belgium, pointing out that Belgian health authorities are currently counting any death of an individual in an elderly care home with any respiratory symptoms as a Covid-19 death.

This is similar to the way that France records its Covid-19 death rate. So far the UK does not do the same.

It is a point worth remembering when looking at Covid-19 death rates across Europe and the world. We could well be comparing apples with oranges.”

how much credibility should we put on a couple of readers of the Guardian having an opinion ???

sort of like giving a scientific reference by using the opinions of a couple of hot copper posters (hopefully not from the religion forum)

whilst I would say it’s probably correct that we might be comparing apples and oranges

that’s as far as I would take it - there’s a heap of variables

we know we have a serious situation - all over the planet in various places we have medical personnel saying it’s like a war zone whilst other places are quiet

    that’s a hallmark of a pandemic or a war

we won’t know the damage exactly - ever. We will know a lot more after it’s over.

It’s like being in a large storm - you know shit is happening out there but you can only see 20 metres
