See what trials are open and accessible to those you want to help first so that you don't build up unrealistic expectations. A few years ago I did have an old friend who had been battling with melanoma and losing. When his mind finally turned to trials there were none available with VLA. It's a nasty one. Be mindful not to cut across the doctors treating them as well. I presume patients mostly focus on their recommendations and might not welcome distractions/interference. Specialists should know what is happening with VLA without the need to be prompted I think.
