Maybe for the same reason that our banking system hasn't collapsed like in the countries that you are referring to.
After all its all about supply versus demand.
Investment properties are currently returning very good yiels .
I'm currently receiving over 10% on property income.
Vacancy rates are at all time lows.
I can still recall when the UK in the early 80's was suffering through economic turmoil with large number of people migrating to Australia.
Wonder if history will repeat?
