Police confiscated SK Innovation's battery technology leak

The first seizure search last 17 days…  Police "Requires Additional Resources"

The police set out to seize additionally on SK Innovation, which is in a lawsuit with LG Chem on the outflow of EV battery technology.  

The Seoul National Police Agency's International Criminal Investigation Team has been confiscating and sending investigators to SK Innovation's headquarters in Seorin-dong, Jongno-gu, and Seosan Plant, Chungnam Province, from 10:00 am.

The seizure search was carried out to secure additional data as additional information was leaked during the first seizure search process.

A police official said, "This additional seizure search is to secure additional data in addition to the seizure search conducted on the 17th," he said. "We will continue to investigate such seizure data in the future."

Earlier in April, LG Chem filed a lawsuit with the US International Trade Commission (ITC) and the Delaware Federal Court, saying that a key technology leaked in the process of 76 employees moving to SK Innovation.  

In May, LG Chem sued SK Innovation to the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency for suspicion of violating the Act on Prevention and Protection of Industrial Technology Leakage, and the police launched an investigation.  

The police believe that employees who have left LG Chem leaked information from all companies (LG Chem) through e-mails and presentations.

The police plan to call the employees who have been transferred to SK Innovation from LG Chem as soon as they finish analyzing the data obtained through the seizure search.
