Jeez GZ, didn't you know they want the cottonwool Aussies to only depend on the public authorities for protection? Can't have us feeling that we have the right to defend ourselves, now can we. That would mean less dependency on the state.

Just not on in the Western world anymore - take a look at Britain where this first rose its ugly head.

" Anthony Edward "Tony" Martin (born 1944)[1] is a farmer from Norfolk, England, who shot a burglar dead in his home in August 1999.

Martin was convicted of murder, later reduced to manslaughter on grounds of diminished responsibility, and served three years in prison, having been denied parole. He has since lived at a secret address, and there are reports of a substantial price on his head from the dead man's family and friends, who are members of the Traveller community.

Still going on though. 10th June, 2013

"A DAD of five is facing jail — for confronting two men who were allegedly raiding his business.

Andrew Woodhouse is accused of GBH with intent.

But wife Lisa told The Sun he was trying to defend himself after one alleged raider “came at him” with a plank as he chased them off. Mr Woodhouse grabbed the wood and allegedly used it on Kevin Green, 52, injuring both his legs and an arm.

The offence carries a maximum LIFE sentence.

Mr Woodhouse, 43, was woken at night by a burglar alarm — put in his home after previous raids on his nearby paving firm in Abergavenny, South Wales.

The other alleged burglar, Timothy Cross, 31, is said to have fled and returned with a third man, both wielding planks.

Mr Woodhouse rugby-tackled one and waited for the police.

Green and Cross were charged with theft of fuel from the firm in March. Both will appear at Cwmbran Magistrates’ Court on Thursday — as will Mr Woodhouse after the Crown Prosecution Service decided he used “unreasonable” force.

But Lisa said: “What was Andrew to do? Let them belt him?”"
