well i am glad you are treating it with respect. Does no good to me to fob it off.
I like the escalator reference. Have not seen that before.
I appreciate what you are saying. However there are key words in there i.e inherently unpredictable that tell me Climate scientist dont have all the answers. I feel it is is best fit models that is driving the science.
Not very encouraging from my perspective. As i am a skeptic i do rely on historical data. not a computer.
I see historical data that tells me we have had far warmer periods in the last 10,000 years in the upper northern hemisphere. I.E Temp data from EPICA in greenland is one example from the NASA links.
here is a pic of what i see from a skeptical science link.
This nasa link shows the same except this is easier to look at.
So when you mention noise (pauses or plateauing) that is irrelevant to the overwhelming temp rise over the last 100 or so years I could now easily throw that back at you and say look at chart above.
When people say our last decade was the warmest decade in a century i could rightly argue that the last decade has seen 800 warmer decades in the last 10,000 years.
So what i see is many inconsistencies. That is why i am asking questions. You have simplified and put forward your view on the lag.
Thank you. I understand (not fully) the process you mention.
