##Unwired have not only now a National Footprint but are in the process of deploying "Wimax".##

SKG have already experimented with Wimax, it is too expensive and doesn't offer quality transmittion of high speed Data, this is why they have now installed servers in the highrise buildings to transmit the movies to the appartment dwellers.............and this is why Telstra canned microsoft recently, and have been talking to SKG.

##This recent move by joining with Austar gives Unwired the National Footprint and imho severely hits SKG and its potential in this area.##

Barry, you just don't understand the differences between the 2 companies.
Most people that will sign up with Unwired want wireless internet so they can use their laptop in other places, or so they don't have to pay for the expense of having cable run into their house.
They don't offer a full service, and are not into home automation.

###SKG despite Brads claims of buildings under "leases".....still does not stop me from using a National footprint provider who Unwired will be.(SKG could have every building in Australia under lease.....means nothing if the users choose another wirelss provider)###

This is laughable, if you connect to unwired will they come around to your apartment and install a security camera or lighting control for you ? will they network your computers to your TV ? The list goes on.

##I see Unwired as a very strong competitor in the SKG sector of "broadband" delivery.##

Thats because your have a small brain that doesn't even understand how to read an appendix 3B.......let-alone try to grasp the different concept of home automation verses wireless broadband.

If you live in a highrise apartment the only advantage that UNW offer is you can connect your laptop outside of the building..............If you connect with SKG you have all of the other benifits of home automation at a fraction of the cost...........plus you still have many hotspot sites that you can connect your laptop to.

Skynetglobal saw Iburst and Unwired coming, and sold off the wifi network to Telstra.
The Skynet model is based on lowcost home automation, focused on highrise dwellings where they can offer a full range of services under the one umbrella.
The fact that they have these highrise apartments under contract means that no player can walk into the building and steal their business, such as Telstra or optus.
Yes a limited number may sign up to Iburst or Unwired for the convience of roaming with their laptop, but with skynetglobal the services offered are cost effective and extensive and will even attract people that don't use a laptop computer.
How many people would like Video on demand but don't have the need for a laptop computer ?
How many people would like video surveillance or the power to view their apartment from work that don't have a laptop computer ?
How many people would like to plug a telephone into their powerpoint and use VOIP that don't have a laptop computer ?

Yes unwired do have a market, but it is limited and has virtually no effect on SKG.
