"NRW would also note that as announced by the Minister for Transport, the total project has an indicated value of circa $2 billion. This amount includes components that will be outside the JV’s stated scope of “design, construction and maintenance”."

Someone here already guessed $260 million. That sounds reasonable, if you assume the $1.3 billion in the West Australian article is approximately correct, and that Salini's share of the project is indeed 80% (leaving NRW with 20%), as indicated in the Italian articles that Skunkyz dug up.

In other words, I'd place more credence in the NRW announcement, that the value of the JV's part of the project will be less than $2 billion, than I would in what we're reading in the Italian press. Please note that one of the purposes of the announcement was to caution investors that Salini/NRW wasn't going to end up with a $2 billion contract -- it would be smaller.
