Takeover target Allegiance Mining NL says it has been approached by third parties about making a bid for the company, after rejecting a takeover offer from Zinifex Ltd.
The nickel company said unnamed local and offshore parties had made several approaches, but no offers had yet been made.
Chairman Tony Howland-Rose did not reveal the identity of the potential suitors but said most of the interest was from overseas.
Discussions were either at a very early stage or had not yet commenced.
"We are and will review any offer we receive on its merit ... and will encourage those offers to be made," he said during a teleconference.
Mr Howland-Rose could not say whether or not the company's biggest shareholder, China's Jinchuan Group Ltd with a 10.4 per cent stake, would itself make a bid for the nickel miner.
"Our relationship with Jinchuan is a long term one," he said. "I would never second-guess them."
