Much to our surprise we watched RE prices skyfall for years now from levels that where going crazy in 2011. The following comparison of three RE metals with gold and silver shows how crazy the bubble has been.
Due to the recent price developments it is still mere speculation if Lynas will be able to operate profitable or not. This will show no sooner than in November when the results for the first quarter with Phase 1 capacities will be published.
What we can and should do here on HC is to watch the rare earth prices closely in order to determine the point when prices have found a bottom which is most obviously still not the case.
The prices of the following core products are most important for Lynas:
La carbonate (oxide)
Ce carbonate (oxide)
Ce / La carbonate
Nd / Pr oxide
Lanthanum
price decline still drastic. La FOB oxide prices down to 6000-7000 $/mt
Cerium
price decline still drastic. Ce FOB oxide prices down to 6000-7000 $/mt
Ce/La Mischmetal
??????? quality, percentages, mix, prices ???????
Nd/Pr oxide
ongoing price decline, FOB prices down to roughly 60000 $/mt

If someone is registered at metal-pages or can give further insights on the Ce/La mischmetal situation, information is very welcome.
I will post the Metal-Pages headlines frequently that are a good indicator and reflect the general rare earth sentiment.
