Firstly, why has there been no argument over the job numbers? Why? Because it looks good in print and it goes over well on the telly. Is it factual? Who knows!
I plan to dig up my backyard for minerals, but it may not happen... I plan to employ 10,000 workers, but it may not happen... Common guys! I like Andrew, he's done incredible things but claiming 30,000 jobs are lost is questionable, the associated studies aren't even completed yet!
Now Sky News quotes Andrew saying 35,000? Why not 50,000 or 75,000 - why not go the whole hog, all of WA plunged into unemployment because of this tax!
Also, given the size and scope of the delayed projects, it would be many years before they come on stream and a lot can happen in that rime. Andrew is not lying, he's just exaggerating based on gut-feel and preliminary work done - he should be careful or he will end up sounding like a iron-baron or worse, a politician.
