Telstra tried to get skype etc to pay for using tls's network but the accc as usual said no and described it as anti competitive if skype and now google etc had to pay for using the network provider . Hopefully optus will be successful this time in their attempt to make skype and apparently googles new purchase plus others to pay for using their networks. How can it be anti competitive, if the networks didn't exist either would skype etc. ps i don't use skype but have watched others use it and at first i couldn't get over or understand the fact it was free. Of coarse now that the govt will own the fixed network and they get rid of the accc regulating the telco industry i should imagine they will want skype and google etc to pay.
