I want to think positively about appen with Ryan and hope the sp to be higher and stably traded but there are many concerns under his management. I'm holding appen shares but can't have confidence with his management.
1. Investors have expected double digit (triple digit) growth rates every quater (actual figures) but appen hasn't shown promising figures yet comepared to other competitors that have proved strong growth (innodats, Telus, Scale AI etc). Plus his guidance at AGM is not too bad but not too bright and ideal with uncertainty compared to others' guidance
2. Incresing competitions and not sure yet appen is competitve enough in terms of client management and AI technologies. We can see these when we see his speech. He doesn't have any confidence for the future of appen every time he speaks out. I think it is because many big techs have swiched to other data suppliers which is related to client management and probably others' technologies might be superior.
3. He has not enough experience and ability to run a company as CEO. He's been working for appen for some years before becoming CEO but the role of CEO is different from what he has done previously. It is not enough to have some knowlege about AI but also need leadership, motivation to grow and passion about the future of company. As seen him in media, we can't see he is motivated to grow. Always saying bullshit like the AI indusrty is changing and growing ever faster than before meaning there are heaps of opportunities to grow but Appen under his management is still struggling to gro while others are explosively growing. There could be some reasons behind why others are more competitive over appen.
Most importantly, investors are hesitating and scared to invest in the company where CEO has no confidence about what is doing. He knows the most about directions and postions how is going forward but he as CEO is not confident. In the situation, who can actively invest?
