I thought Appen is high class AI hiring professionals like lawyers , accountants , etc. for training specialist model ; no longer a glorified labor hire sweatshop.
Apart from hiring peasants paying peanuts , a lot complaints on Appen mis-payment / not paying them their wages.
Appen should've distance themselves from bad PR by setting up separate entity to do the dirty hiring, just like Scale AI with their Remotask.
