Businesses make money for their shareholders and, over time, it's ridiculous to argue that shareholders don't make money from both dividends from profits and capital growth as a consequence of the organic growth of a business and via inflation. I'm certainly financially far far better off with my share investments than I would have ever been by taking my money to a bank.
