There are a few corporate raiders out there looking for these opportunities. (WAM for one). They have shown that they will look at mispriced opportunities - given their bid for the shell of Amaysim. (When it was a 'cash box'). So looking beyond LIC's.
360 have played the same game over the past few years (With the credit fund that they took over, URB, etc). So they must know that it's a risk out there.
But agree with you, it is a very different game to be supported by NTA (Book value). There are plenty of listed companies out there on a similar yield/PE etc with a near zero liquidation value.
