    You are speaking nonsense now, as if the struggle for the eight hour day never happened, and all of the class warfare that won you every little single tidbit. As Marx said, Capital pays out the minimum in wages for the maintenance and reproduction of the worker at a given level of civilisation. If everybody worked twice as many hours, the surplus appropriated by capitalists would be doubled, while workers as a class would still be paid just the same amount "the minimum in wages for the maintenance and reproduction of the worker at a given level of civilisation". As a class the capitalists only pay out the basic means for subsistence which are held on their behalf by the state.

    You don't like it? Marx declared that the length of the working day was nothing to do with markets and would be determined in the political sphere. If this is not true, then explain to me why the entry of women into the workforce, basically halved the living wage?
