It's likely there will be a mix of both. Kind of how like at the start of cars, a critique was that you would require petrol stations all around the city. Over time infrastructure gets slowly developed, making it more economically viable for companies to invest in the new tech and a feedback loop is started.
That feedback loop has to start somewhere and we're seeing the early days of that where it has teething problems. Hopefully over time these things are solved and consumers can enjoy both.
