la nina and Indian Ocean Dipole are both working to bring wetter than normal conditions to the east coast and inland eastern states. Sth Aus, NT and WA to have drier conditions, ex. S/W WA.
January/Feb are drier though and as dry hot air develops after the wet, with increased grass growth (fuel load) fires become more likely.
