Shared:"In a worst case scenrio where you have a large amount of negative equity people can just walk away and declare bankruptcy - then the bank gets nothing! So the banks won't be wanting be inform anyone that they have negative equity, unless they try refinance."
If the negative equity gets bad enough, the banks will foreclose on the owners before they walk away and declare bankruptcy. It's the only logical survival strategy for the banks.
