Well lets try again since my earlier post was considered unacceptable.
Bottom line this article is a biased piece of garbage. Just because a landlord rents share accommodation does not make them a slumlord. Share accommodation is more expensive because it includes in the majority of cases utilities etc.
Also there are incorrect statements which imply that the government subsidises landlords through Centrelink payments. This is incorrect rent assistance is paid to the tenant NOT the landlord (although it should be paid to the landlord to ensure it goes towards their rent rather than other expenses).
Basically the whole article asserts that landlords who provide share accommodation provide sub-standard accommodation which is not the case - a small percentage may but not the majority.
Lasty additional council regulations are not needed as home owners are already over-regulated on what they can do on their own property. How about if a prospective tenant does not like the accommodation DO NOT MOVE IN as there are plenty of other share accommodation alternatives out there!
