I will weigh in here, seeing as I started the debacle a while ago...
Slurry pipelines are used to great effect in certain scenarios...compare Zinifex (was Pasminco) 300km from Century to Karumba
twin pipelines at Whyalla to transport iron ore one way and water the other over approx 65kms.
These were both capital projects funded by large established companies. It is likely that in order to get the balance sheet ticking MAK will not likely look anywhere else other than trucking. Low capital cost/start up, can be scaled up or scaled down as demand/supply dictates, can shift some of the risk onto a transport subbie for delivery.
p.s...I am a pipeline engineer, therefore I have little common sense but lots of fanciful ideas.
