I think there are a number of reasons why this generation are more likely to seek corrective and enhancement surgery than my mother's generation. Most plastic surgeons are aware that motivations for enhancements are varied.

I think the reasons are more complex than you suggest. For example carrying excess weight around the waist is associated with a higher incidence of some cancers. More women are using surgical means to reduce their weight, than in previous years.
