S8, I agree, in 1971 Nixon killed the gold standard and gold suddenly jumped up in price. I can possibly see the reverse happening in the future, i.e gold sky rockets due to big inflation, the solution thereafter being to peg the new currency that emerges from the carnage to gold and probably ripping off a lot of people in the process holding precious metals.
I will be very wary of getting out at the right time if indeed things pan out in the manner described.
