Moosey - you are correct in that LIS Technology are using the v3/3 harmonic which is 1/3 of the v3 (our wavelength of 15.916 microns (they are both in the infrared. The advantage of the LIST wavelength is that it can be it can be produced by a CO2 laser which can be continuous (ours is pulsed) and produces a 10.6 micron wavelength which must then be raman shifted to 15.916 micron - ours is a lot more complex. The problem LIST have is that UF6/G at the v3/3 wavelength is 5,000 to 10,000 times less absorbent - UF6 is almost transparent to their v3/3 wavelength - so it requires a very long path length and a very high infrared flux to get the UF6 excited - that's all set out in the LIST patent (which is public). What I thought MG was referring to was a semi-conductor laser (the quantum cascade laser) way of producing 15.916 micron infrared directly (without combining/synchronizing multiple pulsed CO2 lasers with raman shifters.
