The directors improved their positions by 0.78%, 1.28% and 2.4% through the SPP. My understanding that they got their shares basically for free. I would call it a bad financial decision for a normal investor when he throws away $45K to improve his position by 0.78%. It practically does not change the directors' financial position. This is why it is logical to assume that they were saving the share price.
